The seats on my defender are starting to get a bit tired.. after 175000km with some ones bum bouncing around they have seen better days. The material has held up but some metal has protruded though the back rest of the seat at the side bolsters. Had a look and the original foam has just disappeared to expose the metal frame. I think the seat cushion has also sunk down.

Does any one have experiance with these guys? easy enough to fit? Are they comfy enough?

Thinking of buying this kit seems resonable with the exchange rates. Just waiting for shipping costs.

SubscriberWhy not look at aftermarket replacements. Check out the Stratos range. Not cheap, but you can choose different models. I recall their mount is also hinged to allow access to the batteries. I remember running into a Defender owner on our last northwest trip, and he commented they were his best ever single change to the vehicle.
I replaced the sat foams of mine with ones from Exmoor. Unfortunately I don't believe they will sell retail any more, but I found their service and product excellent.
In my view the original seats are comfortable and I preferred to restore them rather than face the problems of fitting different seats. There are two problems, one is finding seats that allow access to the battery and tools, and the other is the hassle and cost of getting the different seats engineered.

Just had a look at rover craft.. ill be on the phone tomorrow... i do have a set of peugeot 504 and another set of 505 seat in my shed that are spare and was considering putting them in. I think they are far to wide. altho very comfy sprung seat!
I think a standard seat with brand new foam will be the go...
Have a look through the (recent-ish ?) editions of the AULRO magazine - I know I put an article in there (can;t recall the author) who redid his seats - bought the foam from the UK. It's a really good "how to" project.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Just finished fitting the new foam back, and base with new covers.. All from rovacraft.
Really happy with the service they turned up on my doorstep the next morning after ordering it!! Im a big fan of joints that actualy have stuff in stock. There is nothing more annoying to me then the phase "we can get it in". If you can't sell somthing you don't have... anyway
The was a bit of a fight to get the back cover sitting right but i am really happy with the results. The covers come with a DVD that shows you how to do it. They blend into the other seats and i don't think you could tell it was a new cover unless i told you.
I didn't realise how bad the old seats were until i fitted the new one.. I now sit about 1 to 2 inches higher in the car.. So much more comfy. I bet they will get comfyer as they mold themselfs to my backside.
Thanks Guys
Mike
