    Tree / Rock sliders

    Hi Guys,

    The last couple of 4wd trips have resulted in some minor reshaping off the sills on my '96 110 (A nice big dent courtasy of my mate directing me up a track on his property, when we 'discovered' a nice big rock hiding in a bush he remembered that this was the dirt bike track and the 4wd one is the next one along!)

    Anyway, I have decided some rock/tree sliders will be a worthy investment.
    Does anyone have any recomendations or know of anywhere in the brisbane/gold coast/sunshine coast area I can get hold of a pair?

    A search on here as shown that a lot of you have made your own but without the skill or the equipment to weld I am a bit limited there.

    As Scott mentioned you can try Rovacraft in Sydney.

    If you're looking for something local then I'd try British Off Road - they're on the Sunshine Coast.

    Both British Off Road and Rovacraft sell Terrafirma rock sliders.

    Sadly i just bought some from rovacraft from my 130 they are copies of the Elite ones, they don't have the same finesse but look sturdy enough to cope with heaps of drama, just remember it is a land rover owned personally by you and not a rally car owned by the team lol

    I fitted the Equipe 4x4 items to my car, they are really well built and cost around the $500 mark.

    Just had a look on equipe 4x4 and the site says:

    "Unfortunately, due to Equipe 4x4 Italy's "re-structuring" of their sales network, it is no longer viable to import these high quality products. If you have already purchased Equipe products, then you have a unique item here in Australia, as no-one will be able to afford to buy another! What is listed on the website is all the stock I have left, and will be run out, never to be replaced!! So if you want the best, you'd better hurry!!"
    None listed on the site so they must have all gone.

    British Off road quoted $645, not called rovercraft yet but will this afternoon.

    The steel side steps are pretty sturdy and not quite as expensive. I bought mine 2nd hand from Tombie when I first got the Defender.

    I got side swiped by a Land Cruiser a couple of years ago, and the steel steps deflected the Cruiser without any damage to the steps. My doors and B pillar were creased, but without the side impact protection afforded by the steps, I reckon the Cruisers bullbar would have come through my door and fractured my hip.

    Rock sliders are that bit stronger and more versatile for jacking, as is reflected in the price, but I'd recommend steel side impact protection (ie steps or sliders) for any Defender.
