    New Puma Radios

How do people find the quality of their radios in new Pumas? Mine appears to be very scratchy - was wondering if the arial is loosely connected? I live in a regional area, but all car radios to date have been fine. not this one!

Can't help with reception issues but one thing I did to mine, which really improves the sound quality, is to adjust the settings so the base is around +4 or +5 and treble -4 or -5. Stops it sounding tinny - gives a richer texture.

But my radio works well - even remote, so you probably have a dodgy connection.

Changing the radio was one of the first things I did. Made a big improvement on reception and sound quality

I did pick up today that it was set on Euro - not Asia?, where it is now set. It does appear to be better, but not top notch.
Has anyone run some sort of bluetooth for the phone into these radios?

Ditch it! IMHO it would be better if LR offered Defenders without a radio like they do with some utility models in the UK.

As far as I can recall (and this was with only about two weeks of use) the original factory radio in mine worked fine. Sort of in the same way that a feather pillow on a bed of nails may technically work fine - but still be basically useless.

The Clarion system fitted to our SVX was incredible in the beginning while it worked. Although a bloody fiddly thing to use.
However for at least the last six months it has been unusable. Still waiting for some spare to be sent out. Getting very very over my Puma radio.

Upgraded my factory Defender radio (previous model) to a new Pioneer unit $149... The original got wet and died (long story). But the $149 was well spent. I'm somewhat surprised about how reasonable the factory speakers sound with a decent radio. Still could be better, and next I'll look at a decent set of speakers. But a radio upgrade is well worth it.
