			defender td5(03) clutch shudder

I have a 2003 defender with 103k and have just started to experience some shudder when i'm letting the clutch out and was wondering if anyone else has come across the same problem.
It doesn't do it all the time, more so when it is cold.

 Any information would be appreciated.

had the same thing,,, one thing that casued it on mine i had 3L of water in the bellhousing,, thats how i worked out i was going thru so meny startters ,, ,,

then started doing it agen and i just changed the clutch, the plate was ok for the same ks 105 and mostly towing 3t van offroad,, most likly the cover had lost its claming force,,

allso engine mounts can make a judder taking up drive,, and in realy early ones the ecu can cause it, i no people that have had a judder for 50,000ks and its still ok,, just every now and then judders,

but i wanted to change mine enyway,

 i guess a weeping indernaly slave/master cyl
 rear main/tappet cover/fuel block/coolent leak,

just a few things to cheak, but most likly the clutch,

Juddering is more likely to be attributed to the dual mass flywheel failing.

Whilst your in there it will be worth replacing the clutch plate and bearings.

I had the Clutch Master start leaking about two months ago. I refilled the reservoir 3 times before I had time to get the replacement done.

What I found to be odd is that the weeping brake fluid was never seen. No drips on the driveway just a few drops weeping along the Clutch pedal.
Although aprox 100ml had to go somewhere.
So my theory is that it wept down along the lines to the bellhousing and its now making my clutch shudder when starting from First, and its usually more pronounced when the engine is cold. When the clutch plates warm up it pretty much non existent.
The shudder started in the last week before the Clutch Master change over.
BTW the new Clutch Master was the Generic Trailer one for $38.00. Not the genuine one from LR

no shudder but a wuring noise!

Sorry, I probably not posting on the correct place but... I have a MY05 Defender with 112K on the clock. I have a sound similar to a thrust bearing noise but when the gear is engaged and I am letting the clutch about half way out. The noise comes and goes (more likely when cold). Funnily enough the dealer couldn't find it when I went in for the final warrantee inspection. Any one with the answer? thanks
