Warranty?
I have my Defender being looked at the moment for the first time since I took ownership (it is due for a grease and oil). I asked them to go over with a fine comb, so i can put it in for any warranty issues. Here is the Laundry list of potential issues.
How many do you think may be covered by warranty?
• Possible tappet cover gasket - leak
• recommend reseal on transfer*box - oil leaks
• recommend*swivel hubs overhaul and axle seals
• recommend front pinion seal - leaking
• recommend reseal on gearbox - oil leaks
• recommend rear shock rubber - possible shocks
• recommend rear flanges - movement -*possible rear axle
• recommend greasing front flanges - very dirty
Obviously some will not, but are any of these potential Warranty issues?
If not, what is a rough guess at costs for each?

To properly respond you need to advise year of vehicle and K's. Factory warranty is different from used car. Some wear items will depend on K's

All leaks will be warranty - Illegal to sell vehicle with leaks (unroadworthy).
Shock rubber/shocks are consumables, as such they may not replace under warranty.
Scott is correct though, depends on factory vs 2nd hand.

The warranty is extended factory, the car has 115K on the clock.
I have had a positive response from the Dealer Head of service when i emailed the list...
It will be interesting to see the outcome !

As an update. I have my car back from the dealer and here is the outcome.
• Possible tappet cover gasket - leak (Fixed under warranty)
• recommend reseal on transfer*box - oil leaks (Fixed under warranty)
• recommend*swivel hubs overhaul and axle seals (Fixed under warranty)
• recommend front pinion seal - leaking (Fixed under warranty)
• recommend reseal on gearbox - oil leaks (Fixed under warranty)
• recommend rear shock rubber - possible shocks (Not covered, obviously)
• recommend greasing front flanges - very dirty (Not covered)
• recommend rear flanges - movement -*possible rear axle (This was not the rear axle as i thought, it was the Uni joints, all 4 are on there way from the UK, apparently there was none here - But will be fixed under warranty)
As i said above, this is the Extended factory warranty, not the original warranty.
I just have to decide what to do about shock replacement...

Hey Lightweight,
What brand is your extended warranty ?
Allianze seems to be the pick, from what I read on this forum.
It appears that your warranty has worked for you very well.
It is good to hear that these after market warranty extensions actually do work.
Cheers

It is the Allianz warranty, it was about $2600 for the three years, i have just accounted for half of that
