    rear sliding window jammed

    G'day

I was just looking at planning a couple of jobs on the 2007 Defender, when the rear sliding glass jammed on me. The top U shaped guide/seal is bunching up when I go to close it. At this stage I have eased the seal out ahead of the glass to free it up. Now I am faced with getting it back together.

I guess someone will have experience here. Can anybody advise me how to remove the glass and re-insert the seal please? Do I glue it in and if so, what sort of glue is recommended?

    Thanks for any help coming.

I had the same thing happen a couple of weeks ago. I've been told that the whole window (frame & glass) has to come out, dismantled, glue the felt back in, reassembled then refitted.

I have wedged the glass till I get the time & inspiration to do the repair properly.

It ain't so bad I did mine, surrounding headlining and twenty rivets later the whole thing came out.
then you undo the grubscrews and the surround should break into two pieces

Got mine fixed a while back under warranty - yours will still be under warranty - get the dealer to fix it.

I've had that fixed by the dealer under warranty. (no glass removed)
You don't want the window removed, I've done it to fit a gullwing liftup window and it was a real pain in the *ss, and only way to remove the glass is take the frame out.

The bottom plastic slide channel on one of mine is loose at the moment but not actually jamming. Asked the dealer to fix it under warranty the other week but they obviously forgot. Oh well, it's got to go back again soon for them to replace the front roof lining which got punctured when they replaced the windscreen .

Hey thanks fellas. Sorry, I've not been able to get back onto the computer for a while. Appreciate all your comments. I've got some warranty work in limbo while parts are being sourced, so I'll get the sliding window done then too (hopefully).

I thought if it was pretty easy & not too time consuming i might do it myself instead of waiting for I don't know how long it might be. Only 1000kms till out of warranty, so I'll be up the dealers clacka to make sure that they don't dodge anything on my list.

    Thanks again
