    Puma HCPU

Hi, Just brought a 2009 Defender ute, brand new with 17k's(seventeen) from a dealer in Adelaide, had to drive down from QLD to pick it up, before you ask, I will post photo's when I get home. Just a couple of questions, need side steps, as I am having problems getting in and out, yeh I know, getting old they keep telling me. Do I go for OME side steps or get a bull bar with side bars and side steps. The salesman said he could get OME from England for $180 plus each side, with a 2 week waiting time. Also need a towbar for it, should I go for a Land Rover one or get a Hayman Reese.

    Thanks in advance
    Geoff.

Congrats on the new Defender, what colour did you get???

I had a problem with sidesteps LR said they did not offer OME steps for the new puma 130, so after doing some research, i got the pre puma TD5 steps, that were offered for both the 130 and 110 at the time. They look very smart, and LR have a shed load of then collecting dust, think they were around 450, and i ordered via my dealer. Fitting took around 45mins.... So well pleased...

Thanks everyone, I will ring Land Rover in Toowoomba and see what they can come up with. The colour is Alaska White, I should be home on the weekend sometime, will take some piccy's and post them. Having a good trip so far, am very happy with the vehicle, surprised with the amount of power from the 2.4 motor. Driving up the hill out of Adelaide, was in top gear all the way up and it just felt like I was driving on a flat road.

    Cheers & Thanks
    Geoff.

They do sit higher off the deck on the 130. Strenght wise they seem to be very good, Iam no expert on side steps, but compaired to the ones that were on my older 130 these are far better. I did get the price wrong, there 600 for a pair including GST, still not bad, and even the parts chap at Land Rover reckons these are better than the current ones. I can send some further pics if needed.
