    Defender water leaks

It just goes to show how important the search button can be.

I have been chasing recent problem with a water leak near the top corner of our drivers door, closest to the windscreen, mainly when the car is left parked.

The attachment by Grizzly_Adams is brilliant, covers about every possibility. I haven't come across this post before.

    Thanks, Erich

DOes water come out of the roof lining? if so im chasing the same leak.. it only happens when i park the deefer facing uphill. The inner (closest to the roof panel) channel fills with water and runs to the back. once im underway and brake.. whoosh! i get my leg covered in lovely cold water.. im thinking roof seam or alpine window seal...

doesnt even leak when driving either!

Erich, sounds like the door seal, you could try pulling it off and putting some body corking behind it to get a more tighter seal in that area, alternatively you could adjust the door striker to get a tigter fit against the seal that way.

    Hi Steve,

Ours is a different leak. I have removed my roof liner and the channel around the edge stays dry.

In our case water comes in above the door and also around the dog leg in the front seal. It has only strarted leaking recently. I am going to try a few things tomorrow.

The door seal is only a few years old and quite pliable. If anything the hinges are adjusted too tightly as the seal is quite squashed when the door is closed. I have a layer of a Sikaflex product behind the seal as well, to reduce any leaking behind the seal.

Why are we worrying ? it's a land rover. Any water that gets in will run out through the gaps in the floor.
