I reckon you'll be fine - many of the guys with new (as in, 2010) Defys are happy and issue free - so just run it in carefully and enjoy it - don't go looking for issues! :)

Hope that helps you pin point your noise :)
Scallops ole mate, not looking for issues but time will tell regarding the 'New Defender''this isn't a show pony, it has been purchased on the merits of previous LR vehicles [x 4 models of various year/makes]. Which I have to say have been reliable. Proof will be in the pudding, certainly can not make any comment yet as only done 12kms [twelve kms].
I was most interested in the Drive train issues , the old girl I have now has had to have a G/box overhaul due to a lube issue on the main shaft. But guess what, in 2010 I really don't wish to have these issues again -if any!!
Safe motoring:p
Hi I've got on 08 Defender 110.
I've just taken it up Cape York on the telegraph track towing a camper trailer.
We were coasting along nicely in low range 4th on a level but rutted track and bang! bang! clunck! : the front diff failed. We were in the middle of nowhere and I could not get any drive to the wheels unless I engaged the centre diff lock. So we limped along at 20km/hr through several creek crossings to make it to a bypass rd.
We got hold of land rover assistance on the Sat Phone and they eventually got us back to Cairns on the barge.
Was really disappointing. It has been a meticulously looked after vehicle with only 15K on the clock and let me down. Quite embarrassing actually as all the other 4wds were passing me with my hazard lights on.
In Cairns Land Rover found the front diff had been completely mangled. The prop shafts/ CV joint were OK.
They are still fixing it now.
Have also had the same air con problems people mention with freezing over. They have not been able to fix it and we have to turn the air con off every 10 minutes to defrost.
I love my defender and have spent a fortune on it. I hope nothing else goes wrong. Really worries you when you take your family out in remote areas.
I talked to a Land Rover mechanic in Tassy. He said he has seen some of the new defenders not having any oil in the diffs from the factory!
What was the reason given for why she blew ?
Every day I read about another PUMA horror story......my First remote trip in mine will be SW QLD in October. It Must cost LR a fortune for all these claims......would have been much simplereto get it right at the factory before release.
Reading posts like these raises a valid question in my mind,
Q: If the vehicle has a 3 year warranty & spends 3 months "laid up" is the warranty extended for another 3 months? ( or whatever period)
Anybody asked this of a dealer?

 Actually I mentioned the REAR diff failures/ noises I have encountered, and a few with alarmingly low oil levels from new, Haven't heard of a front diff failure before now in the new ones yet, especially at 15K. But glad you were able to get back with care assist. What a nightmare! Still, nice place to get stuck:) Very disappointing:mad:
Hope Mick didn't give you too much of a hard time about it:p Go the Tdi!
