    02 Secret to Screen Demisting

    Okay

    I give up

What is the secret to screen demisting

Seems that if I select screen and hot and fan on high all that happens is that the screen fogs up

If the window is down a bit that seems to help

Can you buy a wired demist screen?

You can get a LR wired demisting screen, but I haven't ever seen one in Australia, and you'd have to bet they will cost a bomb.

Demisting improves about 100% in my '07 Defender if I turn on the air conditioning. Not sure how that would go in an '02, as I think they have special knee-height outlets from the aircon system.....

The Windows in a Defender are hopeless for fogging up, especially with 2 wet, and muddy Golden Retrievers in the back. I found that some demist wipes from Supercheapo worked on keeping most of the fog off the glass for short periods of time (Maybe a week at a time) . Also worked with Salt, Mud, Dog Hair I wonder why my wife doesn't like riding in the 110?

    Cheers,

    Ken

Just an afterthought: Maybe your blower fan has got blocked with leaves & crap and there is water in it, which ends up blowing wet air all over your windscreen. I reckon there is a rubber drain thingy at the bottom of the blower - it might need cleaning out, which will let any water out.

I had one on my 93 Disco, bloody fantastic although at night the filaments where vaguely visible looking through the screen at traffic lights, etc. It developed a small chip, and a replacement was $1,200 at the time. It stayed chipped, somehow passed a RWC chipped and is probably still in use by its new owner

    Thanks Guys

    All good ideas

I will have to check the blower outlet drain thing

Might give it a run on the way home tonight with all windows down / ac on full and heat on full to try and dry things out a bit.

Spuds , in the 02 you are correct with the knee height ac outlet all I get is cold cazoolies

X 2 with the advice on checking the drain hole in the fender top air inake isn't blocked and filled with compost. That sorted my problem out.

It might also help with any odours that you may have been blaming on the dogs. The water and rotting leaves blows an unpleasnt smell into the cab.

Alas since fixing this problem, my fan motor shorted out and a new motor is very exxy and it requires dismantling the car to access, I'm told ( I have the under-dash ghoolie cooler too).

For those who are wondering if the air scoop helps push air into the cab, they probably do a bit but I'm very underwhelmed with their performance.

Correct. They cost around $70 K. But then they do come with a free SVX attatched.
They do work fantastically though. Another SVX gimmick that is actually working out pretty well.
