Save yourself the issues and pick up the lighting feed direct from the rear of the alternator or starter motor....
Feed the trigger wiring through the grommet behind the instrument cluster.

Save yourself the issues and pick up the lighting feed direct from the rear of the alternator or starter motor....
Feed the trigger wiring through the grommet behind the instrument cluster.
Getting to the starter will involve some dissassembling of bits around it and the generator isn't much better.
I ended up running a length of decent cable from the battery under the body and on top of the driver's side chassis rail up to the top of the driver's side guard where I mounted the relays.
As Tombie suggests the trigger wiring suggests the grommet near the instrument panel is the easiest.

It's a bit more congested on the passenger side but if you can find the space well and good.
Using the existing light wiring as the trigger will work.
