Yes, sounds about right. Redline oils aren't cheap either but very good quality.

40,000km interval services are where the drivetrain oils get changed, coolant and brake fluid flushed, filters renewed and at 80,000km wheel bearings should get a look at also. (Except D2 and P38a etc that have sealed hubs)

If it were a Tdi, you'd replace the timing belt at 80K also. Makes the 80K service a bit pricey if ALL that gets done in one hit, we try and space it out a few weeks either side to avoid coronary complaints

That is about right for an 80k service with Redline Oils.
Actually sounds like you got the Redline oils at a decent price if they did engine, gearbox, trans case and diff with it. I know a mate did his Toyota gearbox and trans case and the oil on its own cost $200. Not something I would use as I would still be changing it more often than scheduled due to possible contamination. Did they ask you if you wanted to spend the $s on Redline before they used it?? Most workshops use generics unless specified.
Personally I would be planning to do oil changes every 5,000kms and oil and filters every 10,000kms. Not absolutely necessary but is cheap insurance on a TD5.
A lot depends on if the car is under warranty still or not. If it is under warranty then all scheduled servicing must be done by an MTA member. Servicing in between however such as the 5000km oil changes I do can be done by yourself without affecting warranty as it is in addition to scheduled servicing. If it is out of warranty you can do a lot of the servicing yourself and save some $, depends on your motivation, experience and bank balance. You can still take it to a mechanic for specialized work.
