    DIY pre delivery,safer option??

Have 2010 130 T/cab,hindsight is an easy thing.I should have found time to go over vehicle in every detail-BEFORE handing over 'the coin.' I didnt have time.

I was unable to get the tray made for 6-7weeks so ute sat in shed until the other day. I got to wash it for the first time. Guess what I came across. Some rust starting below the LH w/screen frame.Roof gutter paintwork, cracks and paint lifting. The photos tell all. In defence of local dealer, they have asked me to drop in so they can look over ute and decide on what action can be taken. Will keep you posted.

What is disappointing is that these items were 'not seen' during factory and dealer pre-delivery.How may times would the vehicle been washed whilst on the concourse for sales display, surely someone would have seen this?? Remember the ute has only done 70kms (seventy kms).

I brought this up in conversation with the dealer regarding the 130 in transit for me at the moment....he told me a few interesting things I wasn't aware of:
1...that issue with paintwork and surface rust on vehicles (normally the underside) coming from Europe is not uncommon. In particular he said the Jeep built in Austria are notorious for this and Jeeps custom pre-delivery inspector is constantly ordering a box of parts to replace those underneath with surface rust. Apparently these vehicles are leaving Europe in winter (Nov-May) and they throw a heap of salt around for the ice.
2...that the last bad batch for Landrover Defenders he heard about regarding paint was in '07 but that the sill are often cracking and an area he always pays close attention to pre-delivery.

Sorry you are having these dramas mate and hope the dealer does the right thing and sort it out ASAP.
