Cape York at last. Thanks to Daniel @ Mulgo

On the road from Sydney to Cairns to meet the Mrs and son to start a month long trip up to the Cape (Including a stay with friends at TI).

With limited time to get the Puma ready for the trip I must thank Daniel from MULGO. He let me use up hours of his time and his work shop working out water tanks, fridge racks, bull bars, roofracks etc etc.

There are not many guys around like Daniel who have so much Defender knowledge and knowhow and are willing to share it and give up their time. The puma looks and drives great and when time permits Ill get some photos up of the mods. eg. We took out the single seat behind the front passenger seat and mounted my Engel using a custom rack and seat bolts. Works perfectly and is very easy to use even for the mrs.

    Photos to come........RD

That fridge setup sounds the way to go. Is it permantly fixed, or is it set up to slide in and out of the rear passenger door. This could be the solutuion I'm looking for.

    Cheers,
    Tod.

The Cape is great place you will have great timeup there.

Be sure to do the CREB track, ignore the closed signs, just do it. None of the tracks, including the OTL, are to to difficult so don't be put off.

I did it last year it was a top trip. Looking foward to your photo's of the PUMA and trip report on your return.

PS : Mulgo, do make some top kit for defenders, no doubt.

Photos of the Cape Trip in the Puma.

Currently up at Thursday Island fishing etc for a few days with Freinds.

Had a great trip up from Cairns. Drove the whole Telegraph Track with no problems. Palm creek at the start was steep and slippery and quite a few were turning around, gunshot was easier than expected, there were a couple of deeper crossings, a few over the bonnet but nothing too bad. The good old defender pulled out quite a few prados and 100 series who got themselves well stuck in sandy creek crossings!

One thing landrover forgot to do was seal the snorkle properly around the side and thus quite a lot of water got into the filter, lucky we found it straight away and the filter absorbed all of it!! There will be words spoken on return to sydney!

Also remember to seal up your air intake for the aircon unit before wading otherwise there is a nice waterfall at your Mrs feet while crossing creeks!

The puma has performed awesomely over a massive mix of terrains including bone shaking corregations. Moving the electronics from under the drivers seat to Mulgos xbox under the cubby box was a good job. Dont think they would of made it otherwise without getting soaked!

Will post more photos as time permits.

The pictures look great. We're in the campground in Lakeland, about to head up onto the Cape tomorrow. We're currently travelling on our own (Mum, Dad, 2 boys and my mother-in-law until Weipa) in the D130 towing a Trak Shak.

I'm hoping to link up with any others going our way so we can try some of the more interesting tracks, otherwise we'll be limited to the bypasses.

Is there anyone else heading north onto the Cape at the moment? If so, do drop us a line.
