    Anyone else feel smug?

I guess I am safe enough posting this in a forum that is probably ignored by the people who drive such things as Discoveries and Range Rovers.

I was just wondering if I am the only one who feels just a modicum of smugness every time a driver of one of those other vehicles has a gripe about a fault in some gadget on their vehicle that we Defender owners know is quite unnecessary in the first place?

Should I feel guilty about the fact that I have to resist the urge to post some biting comment in response every time one of them has a problem with their electric windows, their heated seats, their sat nav, their surround sound, their built in entertainment system, their parking sensors or their cup holders?

Nope, wail on the whole lot of the smug decadent elitist bastards with their fancy gimmickry, electric wind up windows, heaters that work in the winter, floor mats. And cup holders, really dont get me started on cup holders, whats wrong with your hands? most of them have power steering and automatics that do the cogswappin for them you cant tell me that cup holders arent just there for sheer one upmanship value. "I could hold my starbucks coffee but Id rather show off pushing buttons and waving from inside my glass cocooned bubble of warm smarmy gittededness than do anything for myself...."

I tell ya, back in MY day..

    Go for it vnx205,

All of the electric BS is the whole reason that I ditch my D3, prob after prob.

With D'fer it is all good, 21,000k's not one warning light or warning chime or extra visit to the dealer or dash display "Suspension Failure - Transmission failure ......."

The writing was on the wall for the D3 after the Missus said one day "It just like a big car, isn't it, I could drive this all of the time"

    Cheers

"Heated seats would be handy this far south"

"Where can I get a self dimming mirror for my Series 3?"

"Anyone found after market cup holders that can acccomodate baby-cham glasses?"

I feel quite smug when I see the countless repairs being done to current Defenders in the workshop while my Classic & P38 keep motoring on.

(normally I direct this at toyota drivers but hey, I'll make an exception)

I feel smug when they complain about the cost of fuel, or if the fuel quality at part thus and so of the trip will be ok. or if they will be able to carry enough fuel to go thus far.

I feel smugger when I point out that it usually costs me less to fill my 300l worth of tanks than it does for them to fill their 60l aux tanks

I feel smuggest when after being greeted somewhere before Ive even gotten out of the car a bloke who frequents the place as often as I do asks how they know its me all the time and I get to point out that "its because my car is as distinctive and individual as I am, not just some common heartless thing"
