    bonnet not shutting

    Hi All,

Has anyone ever had any problems closing the bonnet? My bonnet does not sit flush and I cannot see that the hood is warped or not sitting on its hinges properly. Is there an obvious trick I'm missing or has anyone else had this problem and fixed it? ANy advice gratefully received.

Have you checked out any other Defenders to see the gap on them? There is a huge gap even when the bonnet is closed and latched properly, so are you sure it's not closing?

Maybe the same bloke on the assembly line that checks the fit of the doors also checks the bonnets.

If it's a defender my guess is the bonnet support is hitting the air con condensor or the pipes. Pat

    thanks for your replies

sorry not give all the info - it is a 1994 defender which i have had for three years and the hood has sat flush all of this time but as of yesterday has decided that it does not want to go all the way down. there is no obvious reason why. i now have to slightly push the front latch onto the strike plate and then it goes down but not fully.
