Extended warranty for Defender - get in quick???

Hello Folks,

Just wanted to warn any Puma owners who are looking to get hold of an extended warranty for their vehicles....

There are rumors afoot that the Defender is about to be dropped from the extended warranty policies offered by LRA dealerships. I've just spoken to the bloke who organised mine, and he said he too had heard the rumor - but at this point in time (i.e-at 8.20 am today) he was still able to get a quote up on line and therefore sell an Allianze policy for a new (2007 - onwards) Defender.

Maybe those wanting the warranty should get on board sooner rather than later.

Mark - that thread inspired this one.

I read the Discovery forum thread this morning and then rang the bloke who sold me my warranty to get some confirmation. As I say - at this actual point in time, it is not true that the dealers won't offer Defender extended warranty.

I have been advised by dealer that Defender is not available for the extended warranty.

Interstingly the LR Australia site makes no mention of what vehicles are or aren't covered. So unless they are withdrawing the Defender range something has been omitted me thinks.

Was discussing the warranty with Sniegy - before the Defender broke down

- this morning and he said they had been told the Defender isn't included.

Is that an admission by LRA that the Puma Defender is basically crap and costing them too much in warranty repair already?

Well - your dealer is wrong. PM me and I'll give you the direct phone number to the Qld dealer who will sell you a 3 year Allianze extended factory warranty for your Puma right now - no problems. It cost me $2395.00.

You can purchase these warranties from any dealership you like - they are 100% transferable, Australia wide.

I'd think about it, but hell, $2400 is a fairly hefty price tag ....

Guess you could get it back in a single repair though if the engine goes pppffffftt.

$2.20 per day to have everything under warranty still - with what has happened over the last period of time - I reckon that's money well spent!
