Thumbs up Good Defer news- trials - No.2

Took the big girl down to the duea n/park yesterday, on the way we stopped at the "BIG HOLE' at berlang ,have been driving past this site for 30yrs and never stopped untill now .This is a very pretty spot ,shoalhaven river- pristine - a stones throw from campsite . and the walk to the -hole- a very pleasant one thru some stunning country.

Onwards along snowball rd and east into the duea
,down minuma f/t and dampier f/t to bendethra.

The area is looking very green compared to years gone by and the duea has a good foot or two water in it here atm.Up and eastwards to bendethra mtn and onwards along merricumbeme f/t to dry crrek crossing and araluen.
This is 40 k of rollercoaster ,with tremendous views at around 3000+feet,,,first time i have done in 4x4 ,having done it a dozen times on m/cycles in the past 3 decades.
Anyone considering doing this track, a chainsaw should be std in the kit.we came across 3 treefalls 2 very big and halfway up hillclimbs ,

.Some nice greasy red clay pinch,s prior to the decent to last crossing of duea at dry creek, with about 2 feet depth, gave the diff lok a warmthru, and an opportunity to get a good handle on what the traction control is capable of on its own, gotta say i am impressed with the diff lock! Very impressed with the ride of the vehicle ,even the bride and the brat failed to complain,,on the contry ,the bride was heard to say that she was very impressed with the comfort and all things defer.bear in mind this during and after 13 hrs on road and 6 in 4x4 ,2 in the low box!!
I cant speak highly enough of the g-box and transit motor,,, the low box appears to be happy to shift a bit faster than the top box ,,which is a good thing when shuffling gears up a hill climb,,,its a very handy unit with the turbo singing softly whilst punching up a technical section. At present i am getting a consistant 10 lt and under / 100k for country driving ...bear in mind i drive like i have forever to get anywhere. All in all deeply in love with the defer ,tho still trying to dust proof it!

note ; yesterday araluen rd was closed due to rock fall just west of larrys mtn rd,, detour of half hour or so thru nthrn log roads....
