    Puma Air Filter Susceptibility

    G'day Everyone,

For New Puma owners, has any noticed how the Air Filter is housed. The 2 two latches at the front and in the rear area under the drivers side wing the filter has lugs that go into a reveiver. I noticed whilst cleaning everything down after a trip that you can see the orange rubber of the filter in this area on the corner.
Now I am not saying their is a problem with this as my air box from the top of the filter into the intake is clean. It does seem a strange set up and I am concerned how effective this would be in dusty conditions or over a period of time say a year.
Might go and have a chat to the Land Rover dealer. Maybe a type of cover is needed.

    Puma Filter

Jake, mine is just the same, I thought I hadnt seated the filter incorrectly but no, I think the orange rubber is supposed to be visible sandwiched between the covers. Seemed strange to me too. Looking at a precleaner for the snorkel to help the situation.

Yes, mine is the same. I suppose the exposed back edge is so you can slide the filter top along and under the lugs to clamp it at the rear.

I have followed in the dust of other 4B's in conoy on club trips. So far the outlet pipe from the top of the air box to the engine is clean with no sign of dust intrusion. I hope it remains that way.
