    A bit of welding needed

I'm making up a bracket to hold a 2kg gas cylinder on the rear of my Defender, over one of the small windows. Making up the metal bits is not a problem but I don't have welding gear (or expertise for that matter) to put it together. Is there anyone in the South Brisbane area who can help in exchange for a bottle of Bundy or similar?

I'll be heading out to loganholm on sunday, if you touch base with Iain_B and can drop it off I can weld it up for you (If you're lucky on the spot with his gear) or I can drag it back to ipswich where I can get it done or palm it off to someone else for you.

as I'll have to return to pick up some other gear it can be returned via the same means if needed at a later date.

Thanks guys for the offers. I've dropped a note to Killer as he seems to be the nearest.

If it all works out well I post some pics of the finished article in case someone else can make use of the idea.

Thanks everyone for responding so positively. Killer did a lovely job of welding up the frame this morning.

Apologies for the delay. I'm still waiting for the latch to arrive from Ebay. Can't do more until it's fitted. Will post some pics then.

In the meantime, this is the frame in its jig before welding. If you look closely, there's two holes in the frame over which the part at the left of the pic is fixed to form a base on which the gas tank will sit. The two pieces go either side to strengthen the octagonal clamp. Had to make it octagonal as I couldn't bend up a circle. The top bracket isn't really visible, but it hooks over the gutter and positions it. The threaded studding goes to the bottom, through a bracket bolted to the spare wheel carrier (didn't want to make any more holes in the car) and holds everything firm.

    More in a few days.

if youd like to have it round, get me the dimensions of the strap (diameter of circle and the thickness of the metal), if its within the ability of the rollers at work I'll roll it up for you
