I made up a plate that fits under the nuts on the three mounting bolts for the spare. It has an additional hole opposite another hole in the wheel, which has a peg that sticks through the hole and welded to the plate . This peg has a hole for a padlock. Won't stop a determined thief, but certainly stop any casual ones. This is similar to the optional security on Series bonnet holders.

    Thanks JD.

I'm not really handy with a welder, are there any commercials ones available?

Length of chain and a padlock. Provided the chain will pass through the rim somewheere. Might not be practical with a standard Deefer rim. For extra flashness, thread the chain through a piece of hose to prevent the chain from rattling and chipping paint.
