It's a long shot, and if the fuse blew, then it's probably the pump, but I had similar issues and it was the socket the fuel pump relay plugs into, the connection had come loose and it had got hot and melted the plastic.
I pulled the socket apart and cleaned and squashed the terminals to get a good connection.....no problems since then (touch wood)

Exactly the same symptons on my Td5 Discovery. Pulled the fuel pump out and found the strainer to be full of gunk. Cleaned it out and re-installed and has never missed a beat since.

If running rough, like on only 4 not 5 cyl I would have a look the filters and possible block line as well. Just wonder if the pump have problems because dirt on it.

Just to add, if the pump has stopped pumping/ air has got into the fuel lines, you can get it to purge/prime by stomping on the accelerator pedal half a dozen or so times immediately after switching the ignition on.
It takes about 5-6 times to refill the system before it will start
