IIRC these were not fitted to Defenders. Only RRC and County.

Also known as a Boge self leveller.

I guess that most of these by now are well past their use-by-date and have been taken out and replaced with stiffer springs and or polyairs.

They aren't cheap to replace or repair.

Fitted to range rovers and "County" spec 110 station wagons. Note that AU only got "county" spec 110s from 1984-1990. So no AU defenders were fitted with it - and it may have even been deleted from UK defenders?

It means you can run softer coils in the rear, so a softer ride when unladen and more wheel travel.

I removed mine, and later fitted air springs instead of the coils - a much better option IMHO - and less expensive then a reco for the boge unit!
