I shipped mine from England with some other stuff (it was cheaper) and I bought one that was for a station wagon, added a bar that when it swings shut, it locks straight onto the LH side lock for the tailgate. Works a treat! (Could do a piccy if needed).

    G'day sniegy,

I recently purchased one for my 110 crew cab from Kaymar in Lilydale. Works realy well with the drop down tailgate. It is really bloody solid, mounting purely to the rear chassis cross member.
I'll post some picture up soon...

I hope it is as solid as you think. I have seen rear crossmembers fail due to the weight of the carrier / wheel hanging off them.

Thanks for the heads up Big Jon, where does the rear cross member fail?

The carrier seems to have quite a substantial mount, its folded to follow the contour of the cross member back to the centre of the vehicle.

From what i could gather looking at other carriers, especially for the 110 crew cab, they seem to bolt up flush to the face of the rear crossmember and then attach to the panel work higher up....

One like that, but I don't think it was supported at the top. Tore the whole corner out of the crossmember.

Any chance of getting a photo of what the backing plates look like on the inside of the chassis for the main mounting bracket.

Here's pics of mine - it won't break!
It also has a locking pin to keep it open (See last pic).
