I replaced the OEM rotors at around 80,000km, they were cactus.

Fitted slotted DBA's and they're still on there @ 266,000km and counting and no-where near worn out yet. (pretty much only country miles, but lots of mountains and hills)

One is a manual the other an automatic. Autos use the brakes a lot more to control speed unlike a manual where the gears and engine braking can be used. It stands to reason that an auto will go through brake systems more often than manuals.

Changed mine at 165000 ks, cost about $75.00 the pair. only changed them because it needed a roadworthey and they were .1 of a mm under sized but still working fine.

Except a 300Tdi has eff all engine braking

OK, it's better than an auto, but only just...

SWMBO can't believe how much she has to use the brakes in the Defender compared to the Patrol.

I have an 06 TD5 and the rotors are shot. Done about 100k. It's done a lot of hilly driving though.

I've got the 200tDi and I'm also running the Disco high range gears in the transfer case - and compared the the wife's automatic Prado I've got an engine brake

You can get slotted Brembo rotors out of the UK for Defenders for the same money normal ones cost here,EBC make three different spec ones also,I had them on the disco and they worked very well. Pat
