    PUMA - Rear Seats

Fellow Defender Owners - I'm after some help.

Can anyone tell me what size socket or tools that I need to remove the rear seats on my Puma. Also, any tips?

I went to the 4x4 Show in Melbourne recently and I'm getting the back decked out with a Storage Draw, Cargo Barrier and Roof Shelf.

They are all torx head, but I can't remember the size. All bar two bolts go into captive nuts. The two that aren't are one on either side under the plastic cover with the release lever. The nut is under the guard so becomes a two person job

The bolts are all M8 and I put stainless grub screws back in with some loctite. Filled the holes nicely. The two non-captive nut bolts I put bullnose head bolts in and a washer and nylock.

Thanks Derek. Is it possible to just put the bolts from the seats straight back into the holes? I will be taking a crack at this tomorrow!

Yes it is. I used s/s grub screws so I had a flush fit with the floor and they wouldn't rust.

I just put a square of cloth backed tape (gaffer tape) over each of the holes. That has lasted 10,000 km with out lifting a whisker.

    Cheers

Thought of that, but the holes would have filled up with dust and muck from underneath.

Thanks for your help Derek. I got the seats out on Saturday and boy there is more room than ever! Water tank is going in on Friday and then the draws etc about a week after that. Many thanks again as I am a little "handyman challenged" with things like this.

BTW, I bumped into Dave (Tatura Caravan Park) who was driving past my place and he said he was speaking with you recently.

Put the draw system in mine 2-3 months ago, had to seal up the bolt holes as the draw system would not fit correctly over the bolts. My system is a Doliam. Also found that with the fridge drop down kit, I needed to bolt down the draw system to compensate for the weight.
