    Just joined the County Club!

    Well boys, hope I'm allowed to join the Land Rover 110 County Club cause I just bought one today. I flew up from Sydney to Queensland to see it and have spent today going through the motions and as of an hour ago keys changed hands along with some money ... some beers got clinked in the drive way at some point and I'm now the proud owner of a 1985 County, dual cab tray back conversion.

    The truck was originally built in Saudi Arabia and was a personal import to Australia. It has a fully gal chassis, runs dual fuel and has in the past had a complete body off rebuild. The motor was a straight bolt in P76 ( worked 4.4 V8 ) conversion but has an Edelbrock manifold and quite a few high end bits and $ spent on the motor end. Great motor as we went for a long run today to the engineers in Northern NSW.

    Congrats Tiki...

    Nice looking conversion. i remmber see it at the BP at Clontarf one time, must have been down from the SC on that day. So another one goes south....ahh well if that's want it takes to keep you 'roaches down there then that's fine... Well done mate.....enjoy.

    Looks like it’s got more than one or two Range Rover bit on it. Wheels, steering wheel, dash bits and the carpet looks look very 1980's RR as well. Very interesting vehicle. Nice one.

    Hey Paul,

    No fear mate, I was born in Brisbane and have a long line of banana benders behind me - I grew up in NSW and QLD both so across the border a bit. Nice thing about getting the truck engineered legal for NSW is that I keep all the mod plates for QLD and can register back in QLD iffen we move back up the coast again ... WHICH I PLAN TO DO!

    As an aside ... I have another 10 days on the Gold Coast with free time and wondered if anybody was wheeling in the next week or so, if they would mind me riding along with them in their truck? I'm a local, prodigal ... but local.

    By the way, can any tell me what workshop manual is correct for the 85 County? I know Haynes didn't put one out for the County, so which manual would be the best for most aspects of mechanical repair?

    Hi Simon,
    Great looking Landy. What gearbox is fitted?

    I use Land Rovers own publication "Land Rover 90.110.Defender Workshop Manual (from 1983 on) Owners Edition" (published 1995), which covers most of it, but won't cover your engine just as it doesn't cover the Isuzu engines.

    Hope to see it in action on some forum trips around the mountains!

    Thanks for chiming in mate ... it has the 4 speed manual box. I'll definitely track down the manual you cited and I'll have to get something on the P76 engine and tuning Holleys also. The previous owner was using an old Range Rover manual for most of the stuff but the Salisbury diff et al ... probably why there are a few Range Rover bits on this vehicle also!

    I am definitely keen to meet up with my fellow Sydney/Mtns Land Rover owners when I get it home and rego'd!
