Hi Guys and girls.
Am having trouble trying to get the ignition key outon my 2008 Puma. It wont let me turn the ignition to lock and remove the keys.Any ideas on how to remove them and to fix the problem so it wont happen again.
Regards

One possible answer lies here
Key won't turn past accessory
Before it siezed almost completely Derek was using graphite powder to help it turn.

Get to a dealer and get the lock barrels replaced. It is most likely on the way out. A little graphite powder will help prolong the time left but don't push your luck.

When you get it out, check that the key isn't even the tiniest bit bent. One of ours had the smallest bend in it (from travelling in a suitcase) and even that got it totally stuck in the barrel. I managed to ease it out by profanity and holding my mouth just so.
I had exactly the same issue with my 2008 Puma. It is a warranty job and will take them all day as they need to remove the dash to get at the one way anti theft screws that hold the barrel. I tried graphite too and did very little, it will only get worse as it gets hot.
I know it is not exactly the same thing, but I have had success removing stuck keys from pad locks using WD40. Try to get it as far down the barrel as possible. I.e. fill it up with a few squirts and let it settle for about an hour and see how you go.
We had the same problem with an 08Puma and it is a failure in the waffers in the ignition barrel, its a warranty issue. We were told only use graphite as WD40 and alike actually makes the problem worse.
Graphite is no longer recommended by most locksmiths - they now use a teflon based spray. Can't recall the actual name of it ATM but if you do a search for 'D2 key barrell' I'm pretty sure it's mentioned there.
I used it on my D2 about 2 years ago and haven't had a problem since.
Still get the barrell replaced under warranty but use above in lieu of graphite for ongoing maintenance.
