    Puma Low Range Dash Indication

    Hi All,

I noticed in the workshop manual that the dash has a low range light indication. No light comes on in mine when in low range. It's pretty obvious when in low range, but just thouht i'd ask the question if this 'option' is not included in aus defenders?

    Cheers

    Hi,
You should see the indication of '4 wheels' when the centre diff lock is engaged.

You can be in low range and not have the centre diff locked.

Move the little lever left for diff lock and up for low range.

    cheers

No there is no working Low Range indicator in the dash....no Puma Defenders have one.

Common wisdom suggests that the design is similar to the D3 that has one.

As you suggest it's pretty easy to tell when you are in low range without needing a light.

I'd find a selected gear indicator a much more useful device. I get lost stirring up and down through the 6 speed box in low range.

Same here. It sure takes some getting used to having 6 gears.

I believe it can be connected up, but for some reason it isn't. Could be market specific requirement somewhere in the world.

Anyway if you don't know when the Puma is in Low Range a light's not going to help much.

My rear diff makes a distinct whinging noise but only when the long legged passengers are sitting behind.
