    8/9 seater defender 110

G'day all, does any one here have a defender with the side seated cargo area? That brings the total seating up to 8 or 9. I have seen them in the UK on all models of 110 but am not sure if there are any here and also what the legal approach is toward side seats?

    Cheers Easo

Must be OK due to the number of troopcarriers Toyota sell.

My 110 did have the seats in the cargo area, but the previous owner removed them and the middle front seat and got a mod plate to reduce the seating capacity back to 5

A lot of worksite's don't allow sideways seating anymore I don't think the army do it anymore either. TBH 11 average Aussies in an 11 seater troop carried will see the vehicle overloaded an incredibly tight squeeze and the driver wasn't planning on changing gear or anything was he? The 11 seater configuration is also an optional extra the povo pack troopy comes with a 3 seater configuration and A/C is an optional extra as well.

Sorry not really helpful but I'd say side seating days are numbered legally, have only ever seen the setup in older 110's and those were the two door wagon's which haven't been sold here for some time.

I have a 95 defender with rear seats installed and complianced. 9 seater. Also have a centre front seat that would take it to 10 seats.

It is easy to modify and get complianced in Queensland, provided you have the seats.

    Paul,
where did you get the 'flip up' floor deck' in the back of your 110 ??

    Looks the 'deal' to me.....
I've currently got 3x2 pine and 6x1 boards across mine and its a PITA as it can't be moved for putting big stuff in the back (shoulda bought a 130 but there ya go.......... )

I have them for my '85 110, the frames are identical to my Series 2a rear seats, and thus probably the same for all from Series 1 88/109 through to TD5 Defenders.
My 110 is registered as a 9 seat motor omnibus too, but the rearmost seats aren't fitted and I can't see evidence of seat belt mountings.
