Tell her that my wife is 5' 1/2" (154 cm) and at 64 years of age she can still get in and out of the Defender. Mind you, she had 23 years to practise getting in and out of the Series III.

The side rails you have fitted have a step (tree protector) included. You should be able to mount this original LR step, however you will not be able to fold it up as it would hit that three protection bar.

We could make one with that tree protection bar sitting further down than the one you have now to facilitate entry.

Bear in mind, when mounting this fold up step, you will have a bar across to the chassis which will easily get bent when going off road.

    Cheers,
    Daniel

A folding plastic step from Bunnings solves that problem for my passengers. When seated they retreive the step using a pick up device made from an expanding wireless aerial with a hook bent on one end.Simply expand, pick up step the fold backdown and it fits neatly in the front passenger "glove box"area

On the Blackbutt trip not so long ago Mrs Zulu Delta had a great idea. A little fold away step to get in and out. Both myself and my vertically challenged other half were highly impressed, a great idea.Might pay to give Glen a PM and see if he can provide details. It was just a little fold away step with a rope attached to pull up into truck.Worked a treat.

Could be an idea to look into, not sure how they work though?
