Hi gng,
my go-via tag is in front of rear view mirror. About the best place i could find for it, and it works.
Welcome to AULRO.
cheers,

Hi, Has anyone got a toll or etag on their defender, and if so where is it placed?
I'm concerned the windscreen on the defender is so vertical a tag might not work and there is not a lot of windscreen to utilise without reducing vision.
I'm looking at getting a flow tag or go-vi tag for the Clem 7 and getting very confused. You can have a plate account but get charged an image processing fee. Getting a tag avoids this but there are lots of instructions about placement of the tag on the windscreen, including an instruction to contact the manufacturer of your vehicle for placement advice if it doesn't beep when going through the toll. Any suggestions or advice, including whether to go flow or go-via would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi,
I've just got mine sitting on the bottom centre of the windscreen kinda tucked out of the way. A bit of double sided tape holds it there pretty well. ALso if your number plate is registered to the tag then it doesn't really matter if it doesn't beep. It just gets added to your account at no charge. Or it does for my tollway one anyway.

Dont know how all this works in Qld, but here in Victoria I just told city link i have a metalic tint strip at the top of my screen so the tag will not work.
They have noted on my file thet i cant use a tag and so I dont need one.
At the end of the month whenh i get my account, i see all my trips plus the $1.10 licence plate look up fee, then a credit at the end for all the lookup fees due to the REPORTED metalic windscreen.
Maybe the folk up there in Queensland will do the same. You must make sure that you have one of thoes new fangled metalic defender windscreens fitted (p/n furphy ) as i dont want to encourage mistruth out there
Thanks for all of your replies!
Yep, behind the rear view mirror gets it out of the way. Had no troubles with mine registering in Queensland and NSW
Mines on the very top left hand side of the windscreen and works no drama at all.

Ha.... it's a bit tricker that. We have one in each of our defenders the first one sent to us was a truck tag (only difference is a bracket that holds it 45o to the windscreen). It works fine stuck just above the dash which is the recommended spot for this type. When we ordered one for our new defender they sent us a car tag. Just a different angle bracket same transponder. It does not work no matter where you put on the screen. You have to hold it at an angle to get it to work.
After much arguing with the go-via call centre staff (rocket scientists obviously) and two aborted attempts to get the right plastic bracket. We end up with the same truck bracket we got for the first defender. Works just fine in the same spot. Who would have thought it would make that much difference having a slight angle on the tag.
