How easy is it to change Defender solid rotors to ventilated brake types?
Is there a spacer kit like they have for the RRc or is it more involved?
Part numbers required would be great!

You're more of a Defender expert than me.
The reason for the question is that am assisting to put a '91 Defer back together and making it as good as it can be as we go. Unfortunately it's axle assemblies are mixed up with some Disco ones, but I'm pretty sure the Defender front one had solid rotors.

You should be able to tell Defender calipers apart from Disco ones (Defender ones are bigger IIRC). Then check the space in the caliper where the pads fit. Calipers to suit vented discs should be considerably wider than ones to suit solid discs.
110, County and early Defenders had solid rotors on the front and drum brakes on the back changeover was around the time of 200tdi to 300tdi.
There is a conversion kit of spacers. Karcraft had them, I think. Or buy later calipers. Last time I looked the cost was about the same - if secondhand calipers.
So do some specification at least upto and including TD5 90's including mine (have solid front discs that is)

Apparently around 80ukp for their 'export kit' which contains, spacers,bolts , O rings, pads, and pad retainers

The spacers are easy to make yourself if you have access to a milling machine. Just a flat plate with a couple of holes and o-ring grooves to seal them.
Alternately, SH calipers (or even new) won't cost much more:
