    TDi Injector pump

Went to get a roadworthy the other day for the Defender, they said the injector pump is leaking, and needs to be replaced. Prices between $2-3000 for a new pump have meant it is sitting at home now until I have saved up for a new pump. Wifey is driving the Disco and I am back to riding my bike.

Is there a cheaper alternative? Are the pumps repairable?

Jeff, make sure they didn't mean the lift pump...some inspection centres wouldn't know the difference
If it is the IP, then they are definately repairable, and could be waayyy cheaper than what you have been quoted.

    Pics would help

Definately the injector pump, the lift pump was replaced last year. The fuel is leaking out the shaft where the throttle linkage goes in. They are a Land Rover specialist.

OK, then yes the throttle shaft leak isn't unusual. Sometimes the shaft bush wears, and Orings etc will only slow it or prevent it for a short time, it then reappears.

the used pump Idea is a good one, but obviously you are taking a risk unless it can be shown to have had good clean fuel and hasn't seen huge KM. Still, it is a way cheaper option.

I don't have any good used pumps left I'm sorry, only parts ones.
