Looks like one of the Padre/Bde Comd cars that were running around for a while - I haven't seen one for ages though.

Ah yes the good old Series--you could repair them anywhere

This was 1978, on the Gunbarrel. Two of the detent springs on the 3rd and 4th sincro collapsed on old Gertrude the swb Landy. Travelled about another 8000 miles on one spring !!
    No probs.

Yes but wouldn't it have been better if you didn't have to repair them so often?

I still think 1972 they should have gone from the SIIa to the Stage 1, or better still the 90/110 models. All the technology was already there from the advent of the Range Rover.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

The 110 is the genuine article so Pretendie is out, but would still love to find out more about it.
    Hi Diana,
I'm not sure if you have heard of REMLR, but it has some good info on this vehicle and others like it...

    ADF buys Defender Td5s -REMLR

The problem was the sincro assembly . That did not change it untill much later.
When I got back the box came out and a late mod. 2A box went in. Prefix of F,G or H I think it was. [too long ago!!] Crash 1st and 2nd. This also had the heavier lay-shaft and better syncro assembly on 3rd and 4th. I am buggered if I know why they changed the syncro in the series 3. Once you got used to 2A box, you could change from 1st to 2nd with-out double declutching.
Rough as they were with the agricultural suspension, still miss the old girl.
