    130 polyairs

    Hey folks

I've got a 130, which I drive around mostly unladen most of the time, so I'd be looking to take out the inner springs in the rear, and replace them with polyairs.
I've bought a Polyair Defender Kit (secondhand - unused and believe its 110 standard height)

It only came with rubber mounts for the top of the bags, do I need rubber mounts on the bottom of the airbags?
The top rubber mounts I've got are ~50mm thick,

To mount it to a 130 (with the stock HD springs) Do I need other spacers?

Also any tips from those that have them fitted, where the air filling points are mounted?

I've contacted polyair, and they've recommended getting a '130 kit' which goes inside the inner springs - not quite what I want ...

    thanks

I fitted up 110 polyairs to the 130 just before our december bathurst trip.

Remove the bottom inner spring mount, install the lower 50mm rubber spacer (notch for the two bolt heads)

The upper rubber spacer can be encouraged to tightly fit with the inner flange squeezed inside the upper inner spring bracket (bit of sanding required)

That way the polyair has well secured rubber stoppers top and bottom.

At 5psi it has improved the unladen ride on mine enormously and thankfully when trip loaded (tonne between tray and tow ball) it sagged less than OEM dual springs with 30psi in the bags.

BUT then I got a set of 130 Bilstein dampers, great when loaded but bloody harsh and axle lift (not enough droop) when unladen... May need to get a pair of OEM dampers to use when not trip loaded. Or just take em off all together around town!

I can take photos of the polyair install if my words dont make sense.

A photo of the filling point would be great

Hmmm well looks like I'll possibly have to try find/make some bottom spacers

    thanks for the reply

I think you would definitely need the bottom spacers to protect bag from bolt heads and take up the space.

I located my filling points on rear crossmember either side of chassis rails, just above the high-lift jack holes.

    Bond,
The bottom rubber mounts are for the 2" lift kit I believe.
Mine has standard 130 main springs but really needs the lower blocks to space the bag in the coil.
You can buy them from a Polyair stockist but they are exe if you buy them individually. If you havent opened the box maybe swap the standard 110 kit for the 2"kit (cheaper than buying the rubber blocks separate)

You might consider mounting the points in the recess for the fuel filler....they are out of the way of damage and less likely to get mud and dust there. It worked well on the Disco.
