    Other heater for county

Any put other heater boxes in their county? defender

Mine the factory air con originally huge plastic item, in-dash controls in main part of dash not in fascia.

Pulled it out and its gone: case is cracked in about 10 spots, matrix is blocked/corroded and leaking, internal lining falling off and shut off flap not sealing & warped. I've removed all of the cooling part throughout the rest of the car and have no plans to re-install.

Do later defender heater only units fit in? Or any other units? Anyone got one that good or or fixable that they want to sell? Disco or other car makes any done it?

Really don't want to put a county one back in as it takes up to much under bonnet space and didn't perform well even when new.

    Thanks

    Clive

    Hi Clive,
My Isuzu was retro fitted with a series 3 heater, it works fine, It looks like a new switch was installed & the guts of the dash removed with a tube in place for the demister.Under the bonnet the original plastic tube that "catches" the air was retained & part blanked off. Also converted it to vents, much better..
I'll post up some pics once I get Photobucket sorted, got a newer computer & have to join up again I think.
    Regards,
    David

Hi Clive, there is a heater that was fitted to a non A/C county which I have one that is a bit rusty or the defender one fits as well which I have one of them that works well. There is a few differences between the county and defender one. The county one will hook straight up where the defender on has the hoses in a different location and are 3/4 against the county one of 5/8. I pulled out the heater and fitted the A/C under the bonnet. It works well and is great in Scone in summer time! Scone topped the hunter area for hottest day in summer of 43.5, and the passenger still has some where to put there feet!!!

Tdi Defender heaters and Non-A/C County heaters all fit with some minor plumbing differences. Dimensions and fixings are more or less the same. It's easy to adapt any of them.
