There's food for thought! Any idea of manufacturer/ part number and price?
I notice many application where you see venting made from metal, particularly where gas bottles are stored etc. I wonder where you get that from, and if it could be cut to shape?

Ben your right if the is less holes there is less cutting

This is the one I got, it uses the original securing screws. About a 5min install.

I think it looks good, without having to match each side.
As you can see, it's quite discreet.
There's nothing under the RHS. It leads to the wheel arch behind the overflow bottle (on the Tdi model). I've put my hot water heat exchanger in there and use the flat panel as an access hatch in case I need to access it in the event of a leak.
its also a good place for spotlight relays and extra wiring type things.. in the engine bay... :D
