Thread: steering box

Hi All
I have finally got round to doing the seals on teh steering box for the 90 (only been off the car for two months) looking at the book it looks like quite a bit of set up is needed once it goes back together.

Has any done this or is there pictures on here that may help me. i dont have a spring balance or the special tools the book says i need. So i dont want to pull it apart and get stuck. is it one of those jobs im better off just taking to a garage to do.

ohh its a six bolt box and from what i can tell its just leaking past the seals, uses about 1/2l of oil in under 100km, so a little on the thirsty side.

i tried that on my last box, lasted for about a week then came out quicker than i could pour it in the top.
i got teh box out so just need to change the seals then should be good for a while
