    OK NOW WHAT!!!!!!!

Thats it I'm going out the front and burn the DEF to the ground

Anyone know where the blinker flasher unit is ?
I've got a blinker problem that keeps blowing fuze's I found the short but now the blinkers don't work at all not even the hazzard, I have put in new fuze's but need to check the flasher unit, if it even has one of those?

Not sure if its the same but in the TDI it is behind the fuse panel in front of the gear stick. But like I said that is the TDI

in my 1999 td5 it is behind the fuse panel - I think it is the relay on the left - apparently it is not unusual for the original to fail.

FWIW the Rave manual (2002 Defender) says that the relay is located behind the centre facia.

It also says :- "The flashing sequence of the indicator lamps is controlled by circuitry contained within the hazard warning switch."

The hazard warning switch might be the problem.

No matter what the problem - there's a solution. You've just got to find it.

sounds like the hazards switch to me...

usually when the flasher goes it either goes close circuit and the lights come on and dont flash OR they stay off and dont flash.

From memory theres a couple of other things that hang off of the same ciruit. ID start by unplugging the hazards switch and then probing the fuse for continuity to earth.

On my 02 Fender the flasher relay or at least the indicator relay was behind the main instrument cluster . I undid the steering column shroud? and then speedo instrument cluster which has a screw on each side and 2 below to remove it.

    Withdraw it carefully.

The flasher relay gets a crack in the circuit board.

You will see 3 or 4 in a row.

As my Fender is now gone , I can't remember which one it is but I think it is the second black one from the right.

Jiggle it/ them around a bit , ie push up and down and pinch in the sides and you will find which one it is.

    Just buy a new one

when i replaced my wiper relay yesterday i saw something labeled with flasher unit on the right hand side behind the instrument cluster... i imagine this is the relay that drives the flashers...

    Thanks everyone !!
It turns out I've burnt out the hazard switch, so I have a new one ordered and on it's way to me monday.
All that just because the previous owner of the tub soldered an extra wire onto the right rear blinker and never shielded them from each other, and by me moving the loom around they must have touched and caused a short.
    Well that cost me $53.00
