    Cruise control response time

I have cruise control in my 02 defender utilising the factory ECU option.
It is controlled by a discovery unit attached to the steering column.

I paid a mechanic up here to fit it a few years ago but have never been very happy with the response time with on and off the throttle for speed adjustment.
Works fine on dead flat roads but if set at say 100 km/h when the road starts to undulate you can feel the throttle cut going downhill to maintain the set speed but going up the next rise it wont cut in till around 80 to 85 km/h and then as you crest the next rise it will overshoot by around 10 km/h before the throttle adjusts for the 100km/h setting and goes through the whole cycle again.
I don't run it on genuine hilly terrain but I thought slight undulations should be ok.
Can the response time be adjusted?
Could the wiring be at fault?
    Any ideas will be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Paul.

The responses will be interesting as my 02 Defender does exactly the same thing, DPL fitted and apparently they were working on a fix for this and the cruise not working with the GKN overdrive have not heard anything back for a while though.

I did quite a bit of searching before I posted this query.

With reference to the GKN overdrive, one answer I found was that the ECU has parameters for gearing / engine revs and if these parameters are exceeded the cruise control function will fail to operate. it also went on to say that if a defender was fitted with a disco t/case it would have the same effect.

Maybe someone better informed could shed some light
