    Transfer lever jammed in neutral

My 90's transfer hi-lo lever is jammed in neutral.
Diff lock is fine. Linkages are good too.
I just cannot get the shaft to rotate (used prise bar as much as I dare).
Any ideas before I drop it out and strip???

What were you doing to get neutral in the first place? Something go "bang"??? A bent lever/fork would be my uninformed guess, or you have lost the gearbox output spline due to wear as has been mentioned elsewhere.

Let me begin by saying I didn't do anything!
I got her cheap as the previous owner is about to be trialed with cruelty to Landrovers.
Took the "shack" car (a rare Defender 90) out for a run and overheated it. Was told to park it up so the mechanic could go over it. So he then took it down the beach again, overheated it again, bogged it to the arse and sized the transfer lever in N. I suspect too that the park brake was also jammed on which would not of helped it's extraction. The poor Landy was then scull dragged by a tractor back into town.
The local mechanic condemmed it. I had seen the car around and when I stopped in to see why it was back at his garage I was told the story and that it was for sale.
    So that's how I got me a Defer 90!
Looks like the clutch is buggered so I will be extracting the gearbox to go over it and to hopefully renew the clutch (the bell housing is full of anti-clutch).
Head gasket it gone too so I will be doing that at the same time (might just stip it all down to give it some loving.
But at the end of it I will have a 90 to replace the city Zook I currently drive to work.

Rising salt damp would acount for the stuck lever and the cookied clutch would account for a hand full of neutrals. Best of luck with the fixit.
