Good to hear, I think they needed something like this (the royal visit)to help them along. As you say, if nothing else this disaster has bonded the locals together.
Just phoned our friends in Cardwell. They actually shook hands with Prince William and said his visit was a great boost to the town. They said he seemed like a nice bloke and was sincerely concerned about the welfare of the residents.
They are pretty lucky, only about $20,000 damage to their place. They reckon their house looked like it had been sandblasted, plus they lost almost all their garden, trees etc. However, they consider themselves very fortunate, they still have a home but their near neighbours have suffered much more damage
They said lots of help has come in from friends etc. so I guess this terrible incident has brought out the best in some. Also their Insurance company is standing by them 100% which is good.
Cheers Erich

Can I ask if those heater air intakes are a Len Smythe/Troutbeck product?

Pete
