My experience of this type of vent in the FJ40 was that they funnelled the dust in from the front wheels, so I have never even considered them for Landrovers! But I suppose it depends on how dusty is your environment (mine is very)

John,
Its a bit wet up here at the moment to get dusty... but it is certainly a concern I had.
In the dry we get our fair share of dust.
I figure though that with windows down dust is evrywhere anyways... a bit on the feet wont hurt! If its that bad though Ill close the flap.
The cool airflow wins so far!

What about those ones you get down at boat shops?, I've seen them used on rally cars and caravans.
I looked at them Gerry,
They sure are pretty in cast and powder coated Al... but not cheap!
Also the problem is in the forward footwell section there is double skin, and in the door you have the single outer skin but inner door card.
If you bought the marine vents, youd still ned a feeder tube to get the air inside from the outside skin!

Just got back from camping the last 3 days... couple of hours on the black stuff three or four on dirt. John you may be pleased to know, that through either engineering genius or just pure dumb luck the vents dont appear to funnel dust?
But gee on the black stuff at 110 they make a huge difference to cab comfort levels!
Ive been catching up on AULRO and this quote made me smile:
"With sophsicated vehicles like the D4 the days of just slapping on different bits and pieces then calling it good are over."

Any chance of an open piccy Dinty?

These are on my 2a and are genuine Land Rover parts, they are the roof vents in a Series station wagon tropical roof.

With their lineage, I expect they let dust in effectively :)
G'day All, I almost (well I did forget:(!!) so I had to venture out in the dark and snap off these 2 shots, hope they are of some use, note that the land Rover is grubby!!! well it hasn't been cleaned properly in years:o
