    Footwell Vents

So I built the drivers side footwell vent about 2 months ago. Figured I should test it before making a pair.
It is simply brilliant! At 30km/h you can feel cool air, and it just gets better with speed. When it rains you get a little blow in but no less than pours in the seals. Similarly with water crossings some water ingress is expected but on the upside it will make a handy drain to let flood waters out!

So today I knocked up the matching passenger side footwell vent, took some purdy pickchas to follow the rules.

All in all, a whole lot quicker, cheaper and more betterer than buying and installing heat mat for the gear bag tunnel. All made from Al, 50mm pipe for the feeder, then 3mm plate for the rest. Just scraps I had lying about. The 50mm tube fits beneath the window winder rail on full down but still above the rusting out internal door frame. Little flap swings on an M8 bolt tapped into a tab, flap comes in handy when it gets too chilly - like under 20 celsius.

1st picky shows the 'scoop' outside door plate and feed tube
2nd picky is finished vent ready to install
    3rd picky is outside view
4th picky is inside view with flap set at full throttle!

Nice idea, something that land rovers should have, like 40series landcruiser vents in the footwell

I actually looked at getting some 40 series vents, but some dodgy wrecker wanted money for them!
    These were free!

For interest sake I also made up a vent with shark gills rather than a single scoop, it looked awesome but sucked on the whole airflow thing!

I looked at 40 series vents, besides the whole double skin firewall/footwell issue bloody wreckers wanted coin for me to take rusty land cruiser parts off their hands.

These jiggers were the right price!

Its amazing what a bit of airflow down around the ankles makes when its hot.

(I just realised the first post worked even though I thought it didnt - blame bundaberg)
