    Advice on Engine Lifters (mini cranes)

    Hare and Forbes have a special on this weekend that includes a manual hydraulic and an "air over hydraulic".

    Is the air model faster than the manual or just easier?

    Any views on which is best to get?

    I plan to use it in the workshop to lift stuff my poor old back can't cope with anymore.

    the air over hydraulic ones are good for bulk lift but not so great at finessing . They're also pretty noisey especially if the compressor has to be continually running to supply them their air (if your compressor is not in the same room as you thats a moot point)

    I looked at & bought the Hare & Forbes manual type about 2 years ago. I suppose they are still the same. Goes well, I made the mistake of leaving it in the weather & realized the small pump was starting to rust, but it's OK with a bit of use. I couldn't see the justification of spending more for the fancy model.

    Thanks for the advice. Considering your comments I will save the planet and go manual.

    Hare and Forbes say the air model is no quicker than the manaual.
