    window winder removal

    i want to take off my door trims and give the insids a good grease, or squirt of something

    i find doors wont unlock and windows stiff to wind

    so i need to remove the winow winder

    is these held on by the clips and i will need the special tool?

    or is there a trick i should know about?

    Hi Scotty,

    The window winders are held on by a mis-shapen 'U' shaped spring wire clip - you need to hold back the 'dress cover' as far as you can, turn the handle until you can see the two wire ends, then it is a matter of pushing them with a screwdriver or something similar until thr clip springs off. Be careful as once they get past a certain point they literally fly off - maybe place a bit of rag or something to catch them and avoid posible eye damage.

    I used a bit of coat hanger wire and bent one end just enough to be able to hook the spring clip.
    It works a treat but they clips do fly if not controlled and may take some time searching for them (I say this from experience!)

    thanks guys

    i went and got the tool from supa cheap well worth the $11


    worked a treat no lost clips , not even one flying off


    now i need to find some more of the black clips that hold the door panel on

    My car came sams most of the black clips. I got some close enough ones from supercheap and super glued them onto the trim after filing down the white bits the old ones used to clip onto.
    Now the trim fits snug all the way around.
    I hope that made sense.
