Thread: Seats, something to watch

Something to watch for defender owners. I have just replaced my seat base foams. One of the seats seemed to have a really sad foam and the other was not too bad. On inspection after removing the trim there was some degradation but not that bad. On one of the seats that appeared to sit a bit lower indicating the foam had disintegrated. When I opened it up the foam was in average condition, but what suprised me and was the cause of the shallower seat was that the seat base plate spot welds had failed and the actual seat base tray had dropped about 2cms. Something to watch and must have been from my fat arse.
Foam had to be pulled off anyway, so some welding today to repair and the foam on tomorrow. 1 down 1 to go.
Found my back foam has split allowing the support bar to come through the side support, so that is next. Exmoor guarantee this wont happen to their foam so we will see.
Clunk in drive train was hand brake spring sticking, no mud, just dry. Lubed with never seize and now all good, seems to drive much better with less clunk.
