I called the Castrol rep who explained:
Both Castrol Edge Professional 5W30 A5 & C1 are suitable for Puma 2.2 without DPF.
He said the difference is that C1 is less likely to clog a DPF, but because the 2.2 is the same engine with or without a DPF, either spec oil is fine for a non DPF Defender.
