I have seen it done in Iceland. On LR and GU axles, all internal. A very neat set up. It can be done but there is heaps of work involved.m
right, so I'll stick to on-board air compressor with extension hose then :)
From what I've seen.
the ones that run tubbed guards to get the tyres on dont have protals (visibly the wheel center appears to be within a few inchs of normal height)
the ones that run a lift to get the clearance are the ones with portals, I also think those are on either volvo or mog axles anyway..
I have seen hardly any with portals, but many with big lift running 38s and up with normal axles. They do go a long way to make them road legal. Even a few brand new LR discos got sorted straight from/through the dealer and mod shop.
The ones I saw in Iceland have been fitted to standard axles, not portals.m
So - if it is "easy" on portal axles, how are these done?
Just for information, the Australian Air CTIS system is about $7500, plus $1200 for fitting.
It works well, the only downside I can see are the hoses proturuding out wider than the vehicle, but apparently they rarely get disconnected.
I had a vehicle fitted with this system a few months ago: Fitting-Air-CTI
The guys who run the company are excellent to deal with and I can highly recommend them.
Cheers
David
